Kitna Lagega helps you turn construction measurements into quantities and costs you can check. Start with the information you have today. If you only know an approximate area, use a quick calculator. If you have room or wall measurements you will need again, save a layout and use it for separate estimates.

The idea is simple: measure once, estimate many times. Your layout holds the measurements. Each saved estimate keeps its own work, products, rates and result.

Choose where to begin

Open the workspace. The main navigation gives you three useful places to go:

Where to go Use it when What you keep
Layouts You want to record rooms, walls and openings once A reusable measured layout
Estimates You want costs for particular work using a saved layout An independent estimate with a copy of the layout revision
Tools You want a rough budget or a quick material quantity A calculation you can copy or share; it does not create a saved layout or estimate

The budget calculator is useful before you have detailed measurements. Enter the built-up area, floors and an appropriate rate. Its cost split is a planning allowance, not a list of materials to order.

Set your units before measuring

Open Settings from the navigation. Choose feet or metres and the currency you want to use. Small dimensions may use inches or millimetres, so always read the unit beside a field rather than assuming every number uses the same unit.

Changing currency is a preference, not an exchange-rate conversion. Enter quotes in the currency shown. For quick calculators, the optional automatic reference-rate setting applies illustrative INR rates; it does not turn those rates into a local dealer quote.

Try one complete measured workflow

Suppose you want to estimate wall paint and floor tiles for a flat. Begin in Layouts, review the starter or create a layout, and replace the example dimensions with your measurements. Include doors and windows where relevant. Save the layout with a recognisable name, such as “First-floor flat — measured October”.

Next, open Estimates, choose New estimate and select that layout. Choose the work you need, configure the relevant rooms or surfaces, then enter product details and your quotes. Review the quantities and cost lines before saving.

You can create another estimate from the same layout to try a different product or quote. You do not need to re-enter the geometry. Keep names specific enough to tell alternatives apart, for example “Living room paint — washable finish” and “Living room paint — standard finish”.

Follow the layout walkthrough for measuring and editing, then the estimate walkthrough for the four estimate steps.

Understand examples and reference rates

Templates, calculator measurements and reference rates are starting points. They cannot know the dimensions, site conditions or dealer prices for your job. Replace the examples before you rely on a result.

On quick calculators, Prefill Reference Rates fills empty rate fields. You can edit them and save your own rates as workspace defaults. Use the small info icon to check the reference date, price limitations and other important calculation details. The quick calculator guide explains the difference between references, saved preferences and your current inputs.

Know what changes when you edit a layout

A saved estimate keeps the layout revision used when it was created. Editing the reusable layout later does not rewrite the old estimate. Create a new estimate from the revised layout when you want costs based on the new measurements.

This lets you keep an earlier quote as a record while preparing a new scenario. Check the layout name and revision shown with an estimate before comparing totals.

Keep a backup

Saved work belongs to this browser or device. Do not assume opening the site elsewhere will bring your library with you. Use Settings → Backup & transfer to export a copy after important work, and keep the file somewhere you can find again.

Read how to back up, share and restore your workspace before changing devices. A quick calculator link or material parchi is useful for discussing one calculation; it is not a replacement for a workspace backup.
