The method, with an example

Formula

Nominal mode splits adjusted dry volume by ratio parts. Design mode multiplies finished volume by each user-supplied quantity per m³.

Worked example

For 1 m³ at a 1.54 dry factor and 1:2:4 ratio, the loose shares are 0.22 m³ cement, 0.44 m³ sand and 0.88 m³ aggregate.

What this result assumes

  • • Finished concrete volume is already measured from the drawing or site geometry.
  • • Cement density and bag weight are editable conversion inputs.

What it does not cover

  • • This calculator does not design concrete or verify strength, exposure, durability, water content or admixtures.
  • • Use an approved design mix wherever structural specifications require one.

Questions that come up on site

Can I use the same nominal mix everywhere?

No. The calculator explicitly avoids that assumption. Use the approved project mix or supplied per-m³ quantities.

Does design-mix mode check or approve the mix?

No. It only scales values you enter from an approved design or specification.
